Raptitude Remedy
(after David Cain's Raptitude Blog entry, Accept it whether you can change it or not, November, 2013
Today I will agree
to today.
I’ll permit the sea
to be grey
and the air
to press
chilly damp
against my skin.
Gravity
will claim
the jar of milk
poised on the edge
of the kitchen counter
and I will hear the
tinkling crash
without
dismay.
Today I will dispense
with ought.
Others will do what
they will do.
It will be
what it is
and not my feast.
I will imagine
favor and adversity
as identical twins
and give them both
the gentleman’s ‘C’.
This is my self-help plan
for chilly houses;
hot, crowded busses;
and other
victimisation by
circumstance.
